Frequently asked questions
-
Why is the company split into three locations?
-
Beck+Heun delivers products from three different locations in west, east and southern Germany in order to guarantee optimum and speedy delivery to all customers. Every location has its own field sales team and together they cover all of Germany. Thus customers throughout Germany can easily reach a contact person in their area. Each location is stocked with the basic range of goods, but each location also specialises in specific production areas. This has a positive effect on the development and optimization of existing products and individualized customer service.
-
What makes Beck+Heun so unique?
-
The culture of innovation in all the sectors of Beck+Heun, as well as a management style that empowers employees with a high degree of individual responsibility, are the basis for the continuous development of new product solutions. This way of working is further supported by other factors: Beck+Heun GmbH has now existed for nearly 50 years; during this time the company has amassed extensive know-how in the production of very efficient energy-saving systems for windows. Additionally, the associate companies profit from the mutual synergies that arise from the diversity of business in different sectors.
-
How can end consumers get hold of products by Beck+Heun?
-
Apart from carefully chosen retailers, Beck+Heun relies on a large number of co-operating specialist dealers. Consequently, the product solutions offered by the company in Mengerskirchen, together with appropriate consulting services, are available all over Germany from qualified retailers as well as from architects and planners.
-
Why does Beck+Heun not sell to end consumers?
-
The product range of Beck+Heun mainly consists of building components that are of a very technical nature and consequently require expert knowledge for the installation. Beck+Heun specialises in making building components based on state-of-the-art technology. The company only sells these developments to technically versed customers, such as dealers for building components and building material as well as shutter box and window fitters. The company trusts that this select circle of clients is qualified to advise end consumers, and supports them by providing regular product training and marketing materials and assistance via a field sales team network spread across all of Germany.
-
Why is there a fox in the logo of Beck+Heun?
-
The well-known fox logo is based on the German abbreviation ROKA, which stands for shutter box (Rollladenkasten). “Róka” is Hungarian for fox. What was once the symbol for just the production area of Beck+Heun, has now become the symbol for all sectors of the Beck Group. Nowadays this highly intelligent animal stands for the high innovativeness of this group of companies.
-
How is Styropor® processed?
-
Styropor® is made out of EPS granules (EPS = expanded polystyrene). During a pre-expansion process, the granules expand to a bead size of three millimetres. After an intermediate storage time, the beads are filled into the respective moulding machine. By exposing them to steam at a temperature of 130°C, the beads fuse together and become stable insulation material.
-
Why is Beck+Heun increasingly using Neopor®?
-
For decades Styropor® has been the classic among the foam materials used for effective insulation. The new generation of pearl-shaped granules - Neopor® - contains additional graphite particles that reflect heat rays and thus reduce the thermal conductivity within the material. For this reason a Neopor® panel has an up to 20 percent greater insulation efficiency than normal Styropor®. Beck+Heun intends to increase the use of this new insulation material both in new and in established products so that customers can benefit from the advantages.

Which companies belong to the Beck Group?
-
The Beck Group consists of four independent associate companies. Apart from Beck+Heun GmbH, ROKA Werk GmbH is one of the original companies of the group. Up until today, three further companies have established themselves successfully: With the founding of the independent Beck+Heun GmbH Erfurt, Beck+Heun GmbH has been able to successfully increase its product range and profile in Germany, especially in the eastern region. With Beck+Heun Jumping Equipment and more as a separate area within Beck+Heun GmbH, the group has ventured into a completely new field – horse riding. The experience and the technical know-how of the other production areas have given this youngest sector of the Beck Group enormous market advantages. The fourth independent company is the Hungarian Roka-H kft. in Tatabánya (Hungary). It supports the ROKA Werk GmbH as supplier of vehicles ready for fitting.

Where do the ideas come from / how is innovation generated at Beck+Heun?
-
In all sectors of the Beck Group, innovation is seen as an intrinsic part of company culture. Consequently, the company management works according to the bottom-up-principle – every idea and every suggestion for improvement made by the employees is checked for its feasibility. Additionally, the company stays in constant dialogue with clients, so that optimizing and enlargening the product range according to customer requirements is an ongoing process. In Beck+Heun’s Development Department, construction physicists and engineers work on these ideas. Being open for new ideas and being able to unbureaucratically implement these ideas has made it possible for all the areas in the group to develop unique products that have frequently become the standard in their respective industrial sector.
-
In 2012 Beck+Heun is celebrating its 50th anniversary. If the company started again, would anything be decided differently?
-
In Beck+Heun’s growth and development up until today many correct steps have been taken but also occasional mistakes made. However, the experience gained by these mistakes was important for Beck+Heun to successfully master challenges and grow to what it is today. Naturally, one would have done a few things differently if back then one had known what is known today. For example, the company building was extended bit by bit according to demand. In hindsight, a larger building complex would have been more sensible. Fortunately, no fundamental decisions were taken that would be made differently today.
-
Will Beck+Heun venture into other product areas in the future?
-
Within Beck+Heun’s range of products focussing on making homes more energy efficient, principally anything is possible that makes sense and can be realised with our core competence – products made of Neopor® and Styropor®. A comparatively new production area and a good example for this are pallets made of Styropor® produced by Beck+Heun. This product shows how versatile this material is and demonstrates the diversity of possible product areas.
