Overview

Materials
Beck+Heun uses a wide variety of materials to develop future-oriented systems. However, product manufacturing is primarily inspired by the multifaceted processing and design options of expanded polystyrene foam (EPS or Styropor®) and, to an increasing extent, its enhanced silver-grey relative Neopor®.
For decades, Styropor® has been the standard material for efficient thermal insulation. Neopor®, a new generation of pearl-shaped granulate, contains graphite particles that scatter thermal radiation, thereby reducing the transport of thermal energy through the material. This allows a Neopor® board to provide up to 20% better insulation than conventional Styropor®.
Along with inexhaustible processing versatility, the pearl-shaped granulates have numerous other advantages that make them truly general-purpose materials. Styropor® and Neopor® are chemically neutral and combine high strength with light weight. They also have good cold strength and wet strength and good impact attenuation characteristics.
Foamed to shape and contour-cut products from Styropor® and Neopor® enable tailored solutions for all areas of industry and construction, especially where the use of precisely dimensioned special components with outstanding thermal insulation characteristics is necessary.
