STABILUM
SYSTEMS FOR MORE SAFETY

Concepts for secure window fastening

The secure and load-bearing fastening of windows is becoming increasingly difficult. The reasons for this are the use of triple insulating glass with weights of up to 40 kg/m2 and wall building materials that are becoming increasingly filigree and porous. Large window systems are exposed to considerable loads and have spans that push the window construction and the integrated statics to their limits. Since conventional ROLLER SHUTTER AND VENETIAN BLIND BOXES do not allow for frame fastening in the upper area due to their design, all acting loads must be ensured via the lateral fastenings. However, many window systems can hardly take on these loads.

Without the correct box selection with a corresponding fastening concept, it is not possible to fasten the window upwards. As a result, the static proof of the window is considerably more difficult, as it has to provide the statics on its own.

The STABILUM-FIXING CONCEPTS offer a wide range of adequate solutions for use in Beck+Heun installation and TOP-MOUNTED BOXES. On the one hand, they include simple brackets and stabilisers for fixing and bracing the window - without static verification. On the other hand, the range includes highly stable static brackets that can be used for the static verification of the window fastening. They are tested and safely bear the loads from wind (pressure and suction) as well as impact loads. STABILUM also offers the option of vertical window fastening. A function that pays off especially with lift-slide systems, as this ensures that the system runs cleanly.

REINFORCEMENT BRACKETS
Basic solution for window fixation

Additional fastening in the ceiling

The REINFORCEMENT BRACKETS is the simplest solution for fixing windows. It is firmly connected to the inner leg of the roller shutter or external venetian blind box. The part that projects upwards is set in concrete with the lintel. The REINFORCEMENT BRACKETS is completed by a window fixing bracket, which has to be carried out on site from the frame to the REINFORCEMENT BRACKETS .

This solution is used when additional fastening of the roller shutter or external venetian blind box to the masonry is desired and no static loads have to be transferred. The reinforcement angle stabilises the inner leg of the box and thus additionally fixes the window. Test certificates or certificates do not have to be provided for these properties.

STABILUM NB
Frame stabilisation

Simple fixation of the frame

The STABILUM NB variant is a simple solution for frame stabilisation. The STABILUM NB brackets are firmly integrated into the inner leg of the box. On the construction site, only the supplied MOUNTING BRACKETS must be screwed and concreted in. By concreting in, the bracket is firmly connected to the building structure and can safely dissipate occurring forces.

STABILUM NB is installed in the box at a maximum spacing of 700 millimetres. Smaller distances are also possible on request. The bracket can be used for box widths from 300 millimetres. STABILUM NB is used for fixing and simple load transfer. Test certificates or certificates do not have to be provided for these properties.

STABILUM SK (NB)
Stabilising brackets

The tested premium solution

The most secure fastening of windows in connection with a top-mounted or recessed box is offered by the STABILUM SK (NB) comfort solution. Firmly connected to the building structure, the bracket integrated into the box can transfer both wind and impact loads into the masonry. The number of brackets to be used for this in the roller shutter or external venetian blind box depends on the window dimensions and the exact division of the window elements.

STAILUM SK NB

STABILUM SK NB for built-in boxes is supplied with a 135°-MOUNTING BRACKETS which is concreted in during the shell construction phase and firmly connects the bracket to the building structure. This can be easily adjusted during shuttering, reinforcement or concreting. Furthermore, no additional assembly work is required to connect the bracket to the structure.

Certified wind and impact load transfer

The different variants of STABILUM SK (NB) are certified by the PIV testing institute for locks and fittings with regard to their wind and impact load transfer. In terms of wind load transfer, they meet at least the requirements of wind class C3 (lock cover boxes) or C4 (boxes closed on the room side) according to DIN EN 12210/12211 (wind and suction). As far as impact load transfer is concerned, such as when a balcony door slams shut, they achieved class 5 according to DIN EN 13049:2003 (D) in the corresponding test.

Where-used list for fall protection

If the fall protection only covers part of the window and has to be mounted on the centre mullion, there is no need to apply loads to the masonry on both sides. This is the case, for example, with a door-high window with a centre partition and a door that opens on one side. But it is precisely here that the safe transfer of impact loads in particular is especially important. The STABILUM SK and STABILUM SK NB stabilising brackets have a certificate of usability from the accredited VERROTEC Mainz Institute for fall protection. The static brackets have been tested with regard to impact loads on the basis of pendulum impact tests in accordance with DIN 18008-4 category A. They absorb the occurring static forces from a fall protection system and transfer them into the building structure.

STABILUM SK HSA
Stabilising bracket for lift-slide systems

A firm grip on large elements

The STABILUM SK stabilising bracket, which is firmly integrated into the box and has been tested, safely transfers wind and impact loads into the masonry. The special version STABILUM SK HSA also reduces these loads. It was specially developed for use with lift-slide systems. In order to enable ceiling or lintel bolting even with a widened frame, this version has an additional steel angle.

No sagging
  • Precise frame adjustment for lift-slide systems
  • Standardised screw connections in the building structure
Massive additional angle

With ordinary windows, the roller shutter or external venetian blind box is screwed into the ceiling through a hole directly behind the window frame. With lift-slide systems, however, this is covered by the increased frame depth. For this reason, STABILUM SK HSA has a five millimetre thick additional bracket made of steel. The bracket and thus also the box can be screwed to the lintel or the ceiling - simply past the frame.

Exact frame adjustment via SK HSA adapter profile

Since the tolerance of the horizontal deflection of a lift-slide system is only around two millimetres, these deflections can impair the running of the lift-slide element. The additionally available SK HSA adapter profile was developed specifically to ensure these low tolerances. It engages in the upper frame via a stepped hole (16 millimetres at the top and 8 millimetres at the bottom). A flat-head screw enables precise adjustment of the frame.

Marked and pre-drilled

Markings stamped on the adapter profiles facilitate exact positioning and screwing of the adapter profile to the box. Numerous drill holes enable secure fastening. The flat-head screw for the cylinder as well as four further self-tapping screws are included in the scope of delivery.

Position variable

The SK HSA adapter profiles can be screwed either in the inner or outer frame level and thus flexibly where drilling into the lifting-sliding system is permitted according to the system provider's specifications.

Permanent free running of the HSA

Due to the traffic loads, the lintel or ceiling will bend over time. This pressure from above can greatly impair the smooth and easy running of the lift-slide element. To prevent this, an installation joint of around ten millimetres is created between the box and the upper frame during installation. The SK HSA adapter profile bridges and uses this assembly joint for adjustment.

STABILUM DB
Ceiling attachment

Force-locking screw connection upwards

STABILUM DB is the secure standard solution when it comes to fastening top-mounted roller shutter or external venetian blind boxes. This STABILUM solution is used for non-positive mounting to the window lintel or ceiling. STABILUM DB shows its full strength with divided elements. This is because in the case of partitions, loads occur on the partition board that must not be loaded onto the window. With STABILUM DB, these loads are transferred to the building structure and the window is not loaded. For large elements, STABILUM DB serves as an additional fastening of the box. This is particularly recommended for long elements. The ceiling fastening is basically integrated in all divisions of the series ROKA-TOP® 2 (also EX and RG) and furthermore optionally available on request.
